Welcome to Aeterna
Aeterna stores your files permanently on Arweave, encrypts them in your browser if you want, and lets anyone check they are exactly what you stored — without having to trust us.
What Aeterna does
Most cloud storage is a subscription: stop paying and your files go. Aeterna works the other way round. You pay once for the space a file takes, and it is written to Arweave, a network designed to keep data for as long as the network exists. A second copy goes to IPFS as a backup.
- Permanent. Once a file is stored and confirmed, it cannot be changed or deleted — by you, by us, or by anyone.
- Private when you want it. Turn on encryption and the file is locked in your browser, with its own key, before it leaves your device. We never see the key.
- Verifiable. Every file has a public transaction ID. Anyone can check it exists and has not been altered.
- Yours. Your files do not depend on our servers to exist, or — for encrypted files — even to be opened.
Permanent means permanent
Anything you store on Arweave stays there. Don't upload something you might need to take back later. If a file is sensitive, turn on encryption — then what is stored forever is only unreadable ciphertext.A few terms you will see

| File key | The secret that decrypts an encrypted file. Only you get it, once, at upload. |
| Storage balance | How much space you have left: 2 GB free, plus anything you buy. |
| Membership pass | An NFT that lets you prove, anonymously, that you are a member. |
